Annual Day 2017 of RKMVU-FDMSE was celebrated at GKD auditorium on 18th.

April 2017. Swami Garishthananda, Assistant Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya gave the presidential address, Dr. N. Muthaiah, Hon. Dean, RKMVU-FDMSE welcomed the gathering and presented the annual report. Mr. N. Shanmuga Sundaram, CEO, ABT Limited Coimbatore was the chief guest of the programme.

The ‘week for holistic welfare of the children’ was organized from 14th to 19th November, 2016, by the Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education (FDMSE), Coimbatore, in partnership with Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University (RKMVU) West Bengal and globally with ARIGATOU International, Japan. A total of 103 children along with their parents enthusiastically participated in all the activities carried out in this week-long programme.

Unified Play Day was celebrated on 01.03.2016. The sports competitions in Football, Bocce, Bumper pool, Volleyball and Throwball for persons with disabilities were inaugurated by Swami Abhiramananda Maharaj, Administrative Head, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University. A total number of 208 students from 8 special schools participated in the tournaments.

Persons with disabilities have more often have sedentary lifestyles than people in general. Sedentary lifestyle that results from inadequate levels of physical fitness leads to a number of health problems. Regular physical activity is essential for the maintenance of normal muscle strength, flexibility and functional ability. The physical activities may also slow down the functional decline often associated with disabling conditions.

Talking Hands and Hearing Eyes: Multi-faceted Aspects of Deafness

The theme selected by Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education for Gurupuja Exhibition-2016 is “Talking Hands and Hearing Eyes: Multi-Faceted Aspects of Deafness”. Deafness is invisible disability, hence goes unnoticed in most of the cases that poses great challenges to overcome in later years.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP – 2015

Our Faculty organized Leadership Training Camp for the B. P. Ed, B. Sc. and D. P. Ed students at the foothills of poondi, Arulmigu Vellingiri Andavar Hills Temple, (South Kailash) Coimbatore from 25.10.2015 to 1.11.2015. The leadership qualities like active participation, self-respect, respecting the fellow mates, leading up for all types of activities, inculcating new ideas, arranging the activities with respect to the habitat, participating in various types of activities are trained to the students with the activities like flag hoisting, prayer, watch and ward, community work, map reading, camp fire programme, cross country, kit arrangement, folk songs (English/Tamil), collection of articles, knots & lashes, stunts & games, art & craft, mock sports, hill climbing, progressive party games, badminton restringing, treasure hunt and guest lectures. The students were divided equally based on their basic skills into four groups namely, badugas, thodas, irulas and nagas. The staff members took charge of each group and lead them with ideas to inculcate the fighting spirit and win in all areas.

 Our Faculty Annual Day was celebrated on 27.03.2015. Swami Abhiramananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya and Administrative Head, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University presided over the function. Sri S. Annavi former International Athlete was the chief guest who delivered the chief guest address and distributed awards.

Br. Paramartachaitanya, Assistant Administrative Head, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Swamijies, Bramacharies, Heads of Institutions attended the function.

Our students actively demonstrated physical activities and cultural programmes like gymnastics (vaulting horse, trampoline), aerobics, bharathiam, yogasanas, bhangra dance, karate, silambam, kalaripayatu, lezium, pyramid and tableau.

Third day dances & dramas are played by various institutions of Vidyalaya, selecting different cultural themes. Vivekananda University, Coimbatore Campus as participant contributed the dance “Ashtalakshmi” this year, 2015.

The tenth convocation of the Faculties of Disability Management and Special Education (DMSE) and General & Adapted Physical Education and Yoga (GAPEY), Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Coimbatore Campus was held at the Venkatakrishnan Indoor Stadium, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Perianaichenpalayam on 8 August 2015.

National Nature Camping Programme, 2015

National Nature Camping Programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India in environment education which is aimed at creating greater awareness, understanding and empathy of children with and for the environment. The camp was held at Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History, Anaikkaty, a Research Institute under the Ministry of Environment and Forest.  It was a 3 day nature camp on 12th,13th and 14th October 2015 for children with special needs of Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Periyanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.  29 children with special needs, 11 parents and 7 staffs attended the camp.  Walking through forest, exposure to bird calls, searching and collecting pebbles, leafs , puppet preparation and screening of animal movies were part of  the programme.

The National Seminar on ‘Assistive Technology in education and sports for total inclusion of persons with disabilities’ was organized by NIEPMD, Chennai, in collaboration with FDMSE and GAPEY, RKMVU, Coimbatore Campus on 6th and 7th February, 2015 at the GKD auditorium, Vidyalaya campus.

National Unity Day was celebrated on 31 October 2014

(Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday 31 October 2014 dedicated birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as National Unity Day. Flagging off run for unity on the 139th birth anniversary of the first Home Minister of the country celebrated as “Rashtriya Ekta Divas”, Modi said Patel devoted his life for the unity of the Nation. He also noted that it was also the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Remembering the contribution of Patel in the Independence movement, Modi said Mahatma Gandhi had entrusted him with planning of historical Dandi march which he successfully did. “When we see Ramakrishna Paramhans he appears to be incomplete without Swami Vivekananda. Similarly when we see Mahatma Gandhi, he also appears incomplete without Sardar Patel,” he said.)

9th Convocation of Vivekananda University Coimbatore Campus

photo_galleryThe annual convocation of Vivekananda University, Coimbatore Campus for the Faculties of Disability Management and Special Education (DMSE) and General & Adapted Physical Education and Yoga (GAPEdY) was held at the University’s Faculty Centre in Coimbatore on 13 September 2014, in which 59 and 143 successful candidates respectively of the above faculties were awarded degree and diploma certificates by Swami Suhitanandaji, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, who is also the Chancellor of the University.

Dr. Jayanti K Ravi, Commissioner Higher and technical Education, Govt. of Gujrat, delivered the convocation address.
